Moving with Pets
Pets can't travel on the moving truck, but with a little planning, moving day doesn't have to be stressful for them -- or you.

Plus CashPets Travel With You, Not the Truck
Moving companies, including Frontier Movers, aren't permitted to transport pets or live animals of any kind. Your pet will need to travel with you, a friend or family member, or a pet transport service -- the same way you'd handle a trip to the vet or groomer, just for a longer haul.
Aquariums need their own plan too. See our guide to moving a fish tank.
Before the Move
- Check whether your new city or neighborhood has pet registration or licensing requirements
- Schedule a vet check-up before the move, especially for longer trips, to confirm your pet is ready to travel
- Update vaccinations if your new location requires them, and get a copy of vet records to bring to your new vet
On Moving Day
Pets pick up on the chaos of moving day fast, and it can make them anxious or prone to bolting. If you can arrange a pet sitter or daycare for the day, that's often the easiest option. If your pet has to be home, clear out a quiet room -- a spare bedroom or bathroom works well -- and let every member of the crew know which door not to open.
After You Arrive
Make sure your pet is wearing an up-to-date ID tag before the trip, just in case. Once you're settled, a slow introduction to the new neighborhood -- a walk around the block, some time to sniff around -- helps pets adjust faster to unfamiliar surroundings.
Pet Moving-Day Checklist
A little planning goes a long way toward making moving day just another day for your pet -- not a stressful one.
